May Busy month for Felony arrest

Over the past week or two the Prentiss County Sheriff's Office has arrested 4 different suspects on Felony charges. Arrested on May 17th, 2007 was Wesley Wheeler W/M DOB: 07-15-79 of 100 CR 8120 Rienzi, MS, on the charge of Felony Leaving the Scene of an Accident. This arrest stems from a two vehicle accident which occurred on Cr 5031 at approximately 8:00 PM on the 17th. Wheeler allegedly was the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash and he apparently left the scene on foot after the accident. Wheeler was found about 30 minutes after the accident walking on a nearby county road and was transported to the ER at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville where he was treated and released for minor injuries. He was then taking to the Prentiss County Jail and held for Investigators. Two of the occupants in the other vehicle were in juried and one of them having a broken back. Deputy Tommy Davis is the officer who worked the accident and arrested Wheeler. Since the injuries in the accident were or could have been life altering to the victims and also the fact that Wheeler left the scene and failed to remain there until help could get to them he is in violation of the law. He was charged with this crime and also with several other misdemeanor charges. He was also on probation with the MS Department of Corrections and is being held for them until a probation hearing is set up. Since the accident both of the injured subjects have been released from the hospital. Bond was set for Wheeler at $5,000.00.
In another separate unrelated case, Robin L. Hamby W/F DOB: 11-20-1972 of Hwy 4East Booneville, MS, was arrested on May 19th, 2007 for the charge of Burglary of a Dwelling House. This arrest stems from a report filed by a CR 3020 resident who stated that on April 3rd, 2007, Hamby gained entry into his house and stole his wallet that contained approximately $450.00 cash in it. Hamby was processed and was set a bond of $1,000.00. She is currently out on bond.
In another unrelated case, two suspects were arrested and charged with Burglary of a Comerica Building. Arrested were David Shannon Clingan W/M DOB: 02-07-1979 of 164 CR 265 Tishomingo, MS and a Chasity R. Rodgers W/F DOB: 05-15-1981 of the same address. These arrest stems from a report filed by the owner of Mike's Place Resturant and Convince Store which is located on Hwy 30 East in the Burton area, who stated that someone had gained entry to his store and stolen a money bag that contained approximately $500.00 cash. After reviewing the camera's at the business the suspects description was passed along to the Sheriff and his Investigators and they began to look for Clingan. The search went all over Prentiss, Lee, and Tishomingo Counties and eventually with the assistance of two Guntown Police Department Officers, Chief Tommy Crouch and Officer Kurt Olson, Clingan and Rodgers were taken into custody at Rodgers sisters residence in Guntown. After a brief investigation, the clothing that the suspect that entered the store was recovered in a gar barge can located at a nearby lake to where the suspects were arrested. ( Lake Lamar Bruce in the Saltillo Community) A portion of the money was recovered from the suspects. Rodgers was set and bond and is currently out on it. The bond was set at $10,000.00. Clingan is still currently in jail with a $25,000.00 bond. He is being held for the MDOC for a probation violation hearing. A special thanks goes out to Chief Crouch and Officer Olson of the Guntown PD for there help is apprehending these two suspects. "In latter case the owner of the business played a big part in helping us with a led to start the case, then the diligent efforts of the Investigators and other Officers assisting in the case, help tremdusly in bringing the case to a quick end. I always stress cooperation and communication when it comes to crime. This is proof that hard work pays off." "I commend all those involved with investigating the case and those people from the public sector that assisted by providing information to investigators that led to the suspects arrest.
